The Sanctuary Academy

The Sanctuary Academy is a homeschool-hybrid cooperative based in Chicago that combines the Acton Academy model with the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd and the Way of Beauty to form a uniquely Catholic learning community. Rooted in a vision of ordered freedom, it invites families to “answer the call, enter the story, and change the world” by embarking on a Hero’s Journey that cultivates character, curiosity, and a transforming relationship with God. Children become independent lifelong learners who experience joy through rigor as they learn to be, learn to know, and learn to do. Learner-driven Socratic discussions, hands-on quests, adaptive software, covenant-based community, and public exhibitions allow each learner to discover their God-given gifts and master real-world skills. The school rejects traditional teachers, grades, and homework in favor of guides, mastery badges, and portfolios that reflect authentic growth. Through its integrative approach to beauty and faith, The Sanctuary Academy awakens wonder, nurtures genius, and prepares children to become world-changers in Church and culture.
